We are looking for someone who can: 

  • Assist in delivery of redesign capability sessions within the Redesign School and other priority projects.
  • Advise, coach and mentor teams in Aboriginal cultural considerations within redesign and co-design teams involved in ACI initiatives and activities.
  • Provide ongoing capacity building for staff as needed, including development of learning videos, materials, and resources to support cultural safety and inclusion in redesign and change initiatives.

What you will be doing  

The Aboriginal Redesign Capability Coordinator will work closely with the Course Manager, Centre for Healthcare Redesign (CHR), to assist in the delivery of the Redesign Graduate Certificate Program ‘Redesign School’. This includes teaching and facilitating redesign skills and methods to enable meaningful change in health service delivery. The Aboriginal Redesign Capability Coordinator will act as a redesign educator, and a cultural advisor, mentor and coach to Redesign School project teams from NSW Health, enabling a curriculum encompassing cultural safety and inclusion. The role will also assist as required in redesign and change programs delivered by the Priority Projects team and the Consumer Engagement and Co-design Manager as well as the ACI Patient Partner.  These roles work together to enable and build capability to engage, design and implement with people both delivering, and receiving care in NSW Health.
 
The Aboriginal Redesign Capability Coordinator will also work with, and be supported by, the Aboriginal Health and Wellbeing team in ACI. The collective team support cultural engagement efforts across ACI that enables staff and networks to 'walk the talk' of meaningful engagement that is aligned with ACI's strategic goal improving the experiences of care for Aboriginal people and communities.

Employment Type: Permanent Full Time
Position Classification: Health Manager Level 3
Remuneration: $127,150.00 – $144,444.00 per annum excluding Superannuation  
Hours Per Week: 40 (38 standard + 2hrs toward ADO)

Selection Criteria

  1. This position is Identified for Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, Indigenous applicants applying for this position must demonstrate their Aboriginality and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage in addition to addressing the selection criteria.
  2. Extensive, wide ranging experience in Aboriginal community engagement within healthcare and health organisations/governments with a strong understanding of key challenges towards Closing the Gap goals.
  3. Qualifications or relevant experience in the field of redesign, service improvement, and change within a healthcare setting, and knowledge of the 8 ways of learning.
  4. Demonstrated experience in facilitating and delivering education to build capability for NSW Health staff, preferably in an improvement methodology.
  5. Highly developed oral and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare high level reports and papers for publication, as well as sound negotiation and interpersonal skills.
