Where you will be working:
The Unaccredited Trainee is a clinical position on the Paediatric Trainee Roster, working as one of Paediatric Trainees (Registrars) each term. The position will contribute to continuity of care, orientation and training of new JMOs (RMOs and SRMOs), and will help with medical student and JMO teaching. The successful applicant would be expected to work in the Paediatric Inpatient Unit, Special Care Nursery, and Emergency Department at Gosford Hospital and in the Emergency department, acute clinic and outpatient clinics at Wyong Hospital.
Opportunities:
• As a member of our team, you'll have the chance to gain hands-on experience at one of the busiest paediatric units outside of the tertiary paediatric hospitals in NSW. Our facilities boast 38 inpatient beds and support over 26,000 paediatric presentations annually at Wyong and Gosford Emergency Departments. We're also proud to have pioneered innovative models of care, including the Paediatric Acute Review Clinic (PARC), Paediatric Short Stay, as well as the Wyong Paediatric Unit (WPU).
• But that's not all – our Level 4 SCN provides CPAP for infants with respiratory distress >32 weeks’ gestation and supports over 2,800 deliveries a year. And with a busy multidisciplinary child development team on hand, you'll have access to all aspects of community paediatrics, including medical clinics in community centres, developmental assessments, immunisation, disability, and health promotion.
Gosford Hospital is the principal referral hospital and trauma centre for the Central Coast, with over 500 inpatient beds and 24/7 access to the emergency department and operating theatres. A recent $368 million dollar redevelopment delivered a new emergency department, ICU, nuclear medicine facility, special care nursery and expanded medical imaging services.
Wyong Hospital is an acute major metropolitan hospital with over 300 beds providing inpatient, outpatient and emergency services to residents in the northern region of the Central Coast. A recent $200 million expansion delivered a new emergency department, ICU, paediatric unit, inpatient wards, theatres and expanded medical imaging services.
In conjunction with the University of Newcastle, CCLHD has recently opened the Central Coast Clinical School and Research Institute on the Gosford Hospital campus, providing additional opportunities in training and research.
