We are seeking applications from enthusiastic and committed candidates for the Urology Unaccredited Trainee position at The Sutherland Hospital for the 2025 clinical year.

With our $81.5 million expansion nearing completion, now is an exciting time to join The Sutherland Hospital.    

Where you'll be working

The Sutherland Hospital is a 375 bed Major Metropolitan Teaching Hospital affiliated with the University of NSW, located in the Sutherland Shire 25 kilometres from the Sydney CBD. A 44 bed Emergency Department which includes 3 resuscitation bays, dedicated Adult and Paediatric Fast Track areas, an 8 bed ED Short Stay Unit, a collocated Radiology Department with CT scanner. The addition of 60 new acute inpatient beds, including 6 additional ICU beds and a 16 bed General Medical Unit. There are 24hr diagnostic services and excellent support from Mental Health, ICU and community/aged care services and nursing staff. Sutherland Hospital provides a 24/7 Interventional Cardiology service. Inpatient services include most subspecialties; General Surgery, Orthopaedics, ENT, Urology, Vascular Surgery, Cardiology, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Oncology, Renal, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Aged Care, Rehabilitation and Mental Health.

What you'll be doing
The Unaccredited Urology Trainee will provide patient care in the hospital and is expected to participate in the after-hours on-call roster, including returning to the hospital (call-backs) as required when on call.
  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia.
  2. Minimum 3 years postgraduate experience including significant experience in Surgery. Possession of primary FRACS or working towards.
  3. Demonstrated interest in teaching and research.
  4. Demonstrated clinical competency; demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills and judgement and expertise.
  5. Demonstrated capacity to work within a multidisciplinary team.
  6. Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and computer skills.
  7. Involvement in continuous quality improvement.
