Where you'll be working
The Kirketon Road Centre (KRC) is a targeted primary health care service located in Kings Cross, which provides prevention, treatment and care of HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, STIs, and other transmissible infections among people who inject drugs, sex workers and ‘at risk’ young people, as well as people experiencing homelessness, Aboriginal people and LGBTIQ people who intersect with these populations. KRC has a strong culture of social justice and providing 'health for all'. 

What you'll be doing
The vision for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is ‘exceptional care, healthier lives’. SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.

This position is suitable for a Trainee in Sexual Health Medicine or Addiction Medicine. This position is accredited for RACP advanced training in sexual health and addiction medicine, but the successful applicant does not have to be an enrolled trainee. Trainee supervision and support is provided by three staff specialists with specialist qualifications and trainee supervision experience. Applicants enrolled in training programs will be supervised and assessed as per the requirements of their training program.
 
The successful applicant will demonstrate commitment to developing their knowledge and skills in both sexual health medicine and addiction medicine. In addition, the successful applicant will be prepared to participate in KRC’s mobile outreach clinic, which consists of a mobile team of clinicians who aim to provide primary care, COVID testing, and COVID vaccination to homeless people and people living in public housing estates in Sydney.

Kirketon Road Centre (KRC) is part of SESLHD Sexual Health and BBV services, consisting of The Albion Centre, Sydney Sexual Health Centre, and KRC. Interviews will be conducted jointly between these services. Applicants who apply to more than one service will be asked to inform the selection panel of their first preference prior to interview. Applicants are encouraged to consider applying to all SESLHD Sexual Health and BBV services, if appropriate.


KRC is one of the SESLHD Sexual Health and Blood Borne Virus Services, and this position may collaborate with those services as required.
  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  2. Demonstrated recent relevant experience in clinical medicine and ability to work in a complex clinical environment, consisting of at least three years of recent postgraduate clinical experience.
  3. Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills in dealings with patients, team members and supervisors
  4. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning, teaching, research, and quality improvement.
  5. Demonstrated teamwork, time management and problem solving skills in a clinical setting within a multidisciplinary team
  6. Proven ability to apply clinical knowledge and concepts in practical situations in the context of multiple competing priorities
  7. Commitment to Primary Health Care and harm reduction philosophies.
  8. The Kirketon Road Centre is a walk in service serving a marginalised population, the successful applicant will be prepared to work in a safe yet sometimes unpredictable and volatile environment.
