Where you'll be working
Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital is a major metropolitan teaching hospital. Patients can access a range of services including coronary care, intensive care, orthopaedics, general medicine, surgical, obstetric, respiratory, rehabilitation, paediatric, maternity and emergency care. The hospital also provides a wide range of outpatient services including allied health, dental and podiatry clinics, child, adolescent and family health, drug and alcohol, health promotion and rehabilitation and aged care. An acute mental health service is co-located at Hornsby Hospital. The new $265 million Stage 2 redevelopment was officially opened in June 2022.

What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of a Trainee in Anaesthesia is to provide anaesthesia care in a complex clinical environment. this will be done under supervision appropriate to the level of training of the applicant and in line with recommendations of the training program of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) or as part of the CICM or ACEM training programme or Diploma of Rural Generalist Anaesthesia, where this is applicable. Trainees are expected to extend their knowledge and skills in managing anaesthesia across multiple subspeciality areas of anaesthesia in order to meet the professional standards set by ANZCA.  They are required to deliver anaesthesia, perioperative care and pain management services inside and outside the operating rooms and to perform other duties during rotations to other areas as directed. Trainees will participate as a multidisciplinary team member across key areas of anaesthetics, including:
• anaesthesia and sedation (including obstetric anaesthesia where relevant)
• regional anaesthesia
• airway management
• pain medicine
• perioperative medicine
• resuscitation
• trauma and crisis management



CONTRACT DURATION 
This PD covers both hospitals offering accredited ‘Scheme’ (commonly 3-4 years) and ‘Independent’ (commonly 1-2 years) contracts. Offers of Scheme contracts will be based on the competitive application process, taking into account applicant preferences, with Independent contracts using the same process
