We are seeking Trainees in Psychiatry to commence for the August 2024 clinical training term. Based at Bloomfield Hospital Orange but Bathurst rotation also included. An 18-month contract may be offered. The main purpose of the role is to ensure provision of safe and high quality clinical treatment and care services, whilst ensuring appropriate balance between clinical and training responsibilities. Must be a current trainee with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP).

Our Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Services are a critical part of the care we deliver to our local communities. We are at the forefront in the delivery of rural and remote mental health, drug and alcohol services across a catchment area of 400,000 square kilometres with the regional centres of Dubbo, Orange and Bathurst as hubs to provide services both locally and to our more rural and remote towns.

What you'll be doing

The primary purpose of this position is to provide medical care and support, as part of a multidisciplinary team that is consistent with the level of clinical competency and experience of the appointed Trainee. Medical Officers will work under an appropriate level of supervision according to their level of competence to evaluate, diagnose, treat and provide consultation to patients of all ages presenting in any condition and will work in a variety of Inpatient and Outpatient settings.
  1. Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role.
  2. Must have Australian experience or be eligible for Competent Authority pathway.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team including leadership and direction to ensure appropriate management of patients.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgement and expertise, with demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
  5. Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written), time management, problem solving and computer skills.
  6. Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self-education.
  7. Current trainee in with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), or selected by RANZCP to commence training (for Stage 1).
