The Immunology and HIV Unit at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney provides a sophisticated and comprehensive range of Immunology, Allergy and HIV inpatient and outpatient services. including the and Specialist Immunology and HIV Outpatient Clinics, the treatment Room and the HIV Clinical Trials Unit. The focus of Immunology clinics is predominantly on primary immunodeficiency, allergy auto-immune disease. The focus of HIV clinics is on the chronic management of HIV-related conditions and includes specialist HIV Treatment Complications.

What you'll be doing
To provide effective clinical management of patients, under appropriate supervision, including patient assessment, making treatment decisions, performing procedures and maintaining adequate medical records; and to develop expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment. This includes supervised general medical management of patients admitted to specialist departments.
Clinical Immunology and HIV Trainee at St Vincent’s Hospital will be responsible for the provision of both inpatient and outpatient services. A major focus of the Inpatient Unit is the provision of individualised specialist Immunology and HIV care and treatment strategies, typically for patients with multiple medical conditions. With up to 10 inpatient beds, the Inpatient Unit maintains a high level of bed occupancy and service usage.

- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- At least 4 years full time postgraduate experience
- Must have attained Part 1 FRACP Examination
- Demonstrated clinical competency and commitment to training in internal medicine and Immunology; involvement in patient safety and quality improvement activities
- Demonstrated interest in teaching and research; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment, utilising excellent clinical skills, judgement and expertise.
- Demonstrated teamwork, time management and problem solving skills as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Mission and Values of the Mary Aitkenhead Ministries.
